In 2020, Involved Media Canada launched our first local Diversity Inclusion and Belonging framework and two surveys to understand the representation within our team better, and seek input on how we can foster a more inclusive environment for all. We have taken learnings from this survey to build better education, awareness, and training for our Canadian team.
We are doing our part to encourage more diverse representation in the advertising industry and underscore our commitment to Diversity Inclusion & Belonging for all. In 2021 we launched two scholarships to minority and equity-seeking groups in the Humber College Media Management Program – including people from LGBTQ2S+, BIPOC communities as well as people with disabilities. These scholarships were created by fundraising efforts from our team and matched by Involved Media Canada. We hope these funds can be of help to a student in need and attract underrepresented talent to our media community.
In 2021, Involved launched its first Diversity Inclusion and Belonging Advisory group – made up of employees across all of our major international markets. Together, we will build a global framework and long-term plan to attract, retain and integrate more diverse representation while fostering an environment of inclusivity.
As a business who thrives on Indigenous People’s land, Involved Media Canada proudly supports the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund. As part of this program, Involved provides financial support and has designated one of our meeting rooms as an official Legacy Space. It also represents a safe space to open dialogue about all matters of Diversity with our teammates and anyone who enters the space.
With the approach of “educate + celebrate” we strive to make learning about diverse cultures and identities a fun and rewarding experience for all. Throughout the year we host a variety of events to build camaraderie while learning something new. We’ve hosted cook-a-longs, inclusivity workshops, competitive quizzes and share resources on an ongoing basis to support all Involvedians in their individual diversity learning journeys.
